Spring Valley Celebrates 50 Years

Family owned and operated Spring Valley celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The company, headquartered in Jackson, WI, was incorporated in 1960.

Spring Valley was originally formed and incorporated in 1960 by Oliver & Betty Vogel to serve the agriculture community after their dairy cows were killed when a bolt of lightning struck the barn the cows were housed in. Oliver’s sons Bill and Randy bought the company from their father in 1987. As the farmer’s fields turned into subdivisions along with it came the inevitable decline in agriculture sales. The company found itself at a crossroad and seeing an opportunity they changed the focus of the company from agriculture fertilizer and supply to turf, golf, and landscape fertilizer supply. To meet the growing demand for their products Spring Valley built a second production facility in Fostoria, OH. The plant was officially put into production in December of 2006, and will celebrate 4 years of production for Spring Valley in Ohio in 2010.

The anniversary marks 50 years of continual operation by Spring Valley servicing the green industry throughout the world. The formal 50th Anniversary celebration will be held on August 27th with tours of the Jackson, WI location’s manufacturing plant and corporate center. Spring Valley staff will also be seen at several local parades this summer on a specially designed 50th anniversary float to commemorate the event. As part of the celebration Spring Valley also supported the American Cancer Society by participating in the Relay for Life which was held on June 18th in Slinger, WI.
